Mpowerology embraces treating the whole body, treating at the root cause, optimizing health, and wellness The human body has inherent wisdom to understand how to heal itself when provided with facilitation. Our vision is to empower clients to live their best life though finding ways to manage and improve their symptoms.
Treatment sessions are one on one with a doctor of physical therapy that helps facilitate the healing process. Manual therapy is a hands-on approach to treat painful and dysfunctional soft tissue such as muscle, fascia, and internal organs. It treats the problem at its source whereas other treatments treat the symptoms. It is a medication-free treatment to relieve pain. It can also be provided in the absence of pain or dysfunction to optimize gut health, pelvic health, and overall function.
Manual therapy treatments can help conditions such as chronic pain, headaches, adhesions, TMJ, myofascial pain syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, PTSD, general women's health, pelvic floor dysfunction, coccydynia/tail bone pain, post-partum care, and surgical scar release and management.
SomatoEmotional is a component of craniosacral therapy that explores the emotions/trauma experiences that impact our physical bodies.
At your initial session and evaluation, we will discuss your goals and the services we can offer to treat your pain/dysfunction which may include one or multiple modalities. We customize treatment based on your symptoms and medical complexity.
Manual therapy will be coupled with exercises and stretches, as well as education for increased awareness of what is going on in your body, and posture and alignment analysis if appropriate.
Manual Therapy includes the following modalities:
Certified PWR!Moves Therapist for people with Parkinson's Disease
Traditional Eastern modalities that can be incorporated: Reiki, sound bath
An integrative approach assessing the structural relationships between the internal organs and their fascial or ligamentous attachments to the musculoskeletal system. When tension patterns form through the fascial system, these fixed and abnormal points of tension cause chronic irritation, creating functional and structural problems. "75% of musculoskeletal pain is visceral in origin"-Jean-Pierre Barral.
The movement of an organ can be restricted by surgical scars, adhesions, infection, illness, poor posture or traumatic injury. A restriction prevents the “gliding and sliding” action of the organ over other structures within the body, creating an area of fixation. Our body learns to accommodate by moving around this area of tension, and over time this repeated movement leads to chronic irritation and inflammation causing musculoskeletal, neural and visceral dysfunction.
This gentle hands-on technique addresses adhesions from inflammation, trauma, or surgery that could be causing pain and dysfunction.
The craniosacral system provides the physical environment in which the brain and spinal cord develop and function. This therapy works with the natural rhythms of our body to pinpoint and correct source problems to relieve pain and dysfunction by freeing up restrictions. It is a powerful tool to tap into the nervous system for calming the sympathetic nervous system.
This gentle, hand-on approach is beneficial treatment for depression, TMJ syndrome, chronic pain, headaches, chronic fatigue, neck and back pain, stress and tension-related disorders, PTSD, whole-body health and performance.
Using the John Barnes approach, a treatment approach by addressing and releasing the fascial system throughout the body. Fascia covers everything within the body (bone, organs, muscle, nerve, artery, vein) and is a continuous structure from head to toe. Myofascial restrictions from trauma, inflammation, or surgeries can produce up to 2,000 lbs. per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do cannot be imaged.
This gentle hand-on technique is sustained into the myofascial system to eliminate pain and restore function.
Assess and address posture/alignment, movement dysfunction, home exercise program, and education/re-education of movement patterns.
Exercise based treatment to improve function and decrease symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Comprehensive PD-specific approach that can target the multiple symptoms.
Customized to fit your individual needs, focusing on problem areas or targeting certain muscle groups. Stretch deeper than what you can achieve on your own.
Eastern healing system using light touch to facilitate the healing process by calming and relieving stress to boost the body's immune system and helps to restore energy.
Benefits include decreasing inflammation, interacts with mitochondria to produce ATP for improving healing and energy, as well as improving blood circulation. Used for pain relief, anti-aging, reducing inflammation, faster healing, and treatment for scar tissue.
With over 20+ years of practicing physical therapy in many settings, I have treated a wide range of diagnoses. I received my Master's and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis. I have a passion for learning especially through continuing education in the art and science of human movement and function.
My interest of fascia and structural dysfunction causing chronic and "unexplained" pain/symptoms stems from a traumatic childhood car accident. A life-time of learning on managing my challenges through different modalities has allowed me to appreciate how the mobility of structures and tissues within the body affect our daily function.
I have studied with a wide range of schools including the Barral Institute, Upledger Institute, John Barnes Myofascial Release, and Herman & Wallace. I have a special interest in the treatment of neurological diseases and processes. I am also a Reiki practitioner/master.
